Imagine a major street in a big city. On one end of the street there is a big Shell petrol station, on the other end of the street there is a big BP petrol station. Both are very modern, with a big service centre, shop and service personnel. During the night they are brightly lit so everyone can see them.
One day a new petrol station opens up in the middle of the street. It is an unusual station, there is only one pump, no service centre, no shop, no personnel and obviously none of the fancy lights all the other stations have. There is only one brand new pump, with a keypad.
At the pump, which is self service, you get the same high quality petrol that you get at the other petrol stations. The difference is the new petrol station has a unique pricing system. The news travels fast that there is a new petrol station. Mike heard of it from a friend and wants to try the new petrol station. He drives to the station, but before he can fill up his car, he is requested to key in the name and customer number of the person who told him about the new petrol station. Mike follows the instructions step by step, enters his credit card details and buys petrol for 50 dollars.
3 days later Mike receives a letter from the company that operates the petrol station. In this letter the company thanks Mike for his business and advises him of his new customer number.
Exactly one month later he receives another letter from the company, containing the transaction history for his petrol purchases. To his surprise he also finds a cheque in the amount of 60 dollars. He is reading in the letter that the cheque is his remuneration, because he told his father, his sister and some of his friends about this petrol station. And they also went to the new petrol station to buy their petrol.
Another month later, Mike receives more mail from the company. In it his usual transaction statement and a cheque over 204 dollars. Mike cannot believe that this is possible.
Mike is really wondering how all of this is possible…
He didn’t do anything special; he just talked to people about the new petrol station in the street. The same did his father, his sister and his friends – nothing more.
It got even better! The people he talked about the petrol station rung him and were very happy because they received a cheque from the petrol station in the mail.
Do you agree that Mike didn’t sell any petrol? Mike gets his petrol now for free and he has some additional spending money. And all only because he recommended the petrol station, he didn’t do anything more or less.
Every month Mike now receives his cheque. After one year the amount climbed to 1000 dollars. After another year it climbed to 2200 dollars. Another year later he got 4000 dollars.
Today Mike is a very wealthy man and enjoys a life of financial freedom. He still receives cheques from the company, now they have 5 digit amounts on them. He is able to afford things that he could only dream about 4 years ago.
